A special visit

The Summer Learning Journey for NEXT Foundation from Next Foundation on Vimeo.

Today we had a special assembly. For this assembly we had visitors from the NEXT Foundation and the
people that program the Summer Learning Journey. Rachel from the Summer Learning Journey program told us how wonderful and successful the Summer Learning Journey was and how it helped kids with their reading. Then Bill Kermode from the NEXT Foundation talked to us about how the NEXT Foundation became a big company in New Zealand and how they pay it forward to people. The movie about the SLJ was then launched for the whole school to watch. Daniel was the main person in this clip, he is in my class. It was fun having the film crew come into our classroom. After the assembly we went out onto the field and had a delicious lunch, thanks to the NEXT Foundation.

Google game

Yesterday Mrs Anderson told us we could play a game on google. This involves programming things from scratch. You could visit this game on google. Press Ctrl T to open up a new tab to play. This would probably help you out if your making a game on scratch.

Tech reflection

Every single week on Friday LS2 would always go to tech as a normal day. Since it was the last week of tech we were told after 10:30 that we were going into three different groups to go to these really cool sessions with these teachers. I was in P.E, it was very fun because we could collaborate with our friends.

My favourite time at tech was going to cooking with miss Hecka, my favourite food there was eating the pies because they were so delicious !!

My second favourite time at tech was with Mr Grundy because we got to make really cool designs with this thing called... GLASS!... It was dangerous because we got our selves cut but we managed to accomplish it at the end.

And last of all was with Mrs Ferguson....Clocks!.... it was very fun but painting the clock was the best part. My design was a New Zealand clock, I think I did pretty good painting New Zealand don't you think ?

Tech Tamaki College

On Friday it was our last day at tech and we completed making our stained glass with Mr Grundy. We have had an amazing year going to Tamaki College and had a great time with the teachers that taught us how to do things. The best Technology session was with Mrs Heka because she showed us how to cook very delicious food.

P.E with M.R Moyes

Friday was an interesting day for us because it was the last day of tech at Tamaki college. The year eights mostly enjoyed their last time for tech because it was amazing doing really cool things we have not done before. Friday was no ordinary tech, we had a special activity after 10:50 AM. We went on the other side of Tamaki College and we went into 3 groups, so we could go to these amazing sessions with our coaches or teachers. Our coach for our session was M.R Moyes, we played very cool activity's and our coach coached us very well. We would like to thank Mr Moyes letting us use the sports equipment.

Problem solving DLO

Yesterday my partner Harlem and I started creating a DLO about a problem solving Mrs Anderson gave us to do. We could use any strategy we could like to solve the maths problem. Our problem involved times tables, doubles and everything we could use to solve it. The most challenging part about this was trying to pick what strategy to use because there were heaps. I loved doing this activity and hopefully my partner did as well.

Summarising DLO

Last week Tewai and I decided to read a book called Robert the rat. We managed to read half way through the book, so we made a Summarising DLO. We had to write down 20 important words from the text we were reading and turn them into the 6 most important words. With those 6 words we had to sum them up into a few sentences.

Police visiting PBS !!

Today we have had an amazing afternoon because the police officers came to our school, this was probably the best police visitors we have ever had in the school because the police helicopter came and landed right onto our school field. It was a big surprise for me because it was my first time seeing a helicopter with my own eyes because I only get to see them on films or video tapes. Did you know that the helicopter goes 232 kph (WOW!). Did you also know that there are only 2 helicopters here in Auckland ?. My second favorite part about the visit was seeing the German Shepherd police dog come over to see us. It was fully trained and understood what to do when the other officer Grant was giving him commands. This was one of the best visits I have had so far for my last year here at Panmure Bridge school. Another fact about the helicopter is that it costed 850K for it !!?( that is a lot of money).

How to keep your teeth clean Animation

Today for our writing session I have created a animation with my 2 partners Joshua W and Jericho. All three of us have been looking up about what the causes of bacteria and what it does to our teeth, and how to look after them frequently. This is what we had to do.

1: Research facts or info about what cavity is and what it does.

2: Create an animation or DLO to show your learning about how to keep our teeth clean.

3: Write all information we get from sites and write them in our own words.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2017 - 10 Anniversary!!

On Wednesday all the schools from the Manaiakalani cluster went to the Sylvia park Cinema. It was going to be a great day because I knew we were going to watch all of the movies from other schools. Our bus came late but we managed to get there half way through the session. We were lucky because we were allowed to go through the next session.

The next session was with Tamaki Primary and Point England. I enjoyed it and my favourite movie was     the sugar rap from Tamaki Primary. The sugar rap was about how to keep in shape, and not to eat junk food because it does keep you out of shape.

My second favourite movie was from Point England school, it was called the taste test. It was about these kids, they had to wear a mask on so that it could keep them from seeing the food they are going to try out. The ending looked very funny because they did not know that they were holding a chicken leg. Luckily they did not eat it.

If you want to watch the films from our cluster click here  to watch all the films... ENJOY !!

Kiwi sport - Badminton

Today group B went to kiwi sport so that we could do some badminton, our coach Kevin showed us how to do the back hand grip forward group. I have enjoyed playing with my partner Lyndon because we could cooperate and help each other with things that we were stuck on.
