Whats great about me

It's great to be me because I like being happy around people that I get comfortable with. E.G I like to be around with people that excite me with my learning, or I like to hang out with people that are normal and are themselves.

Tech Year 8 last rotation

Today was our last rotation and we have finally finished painting our clocks and putting the mechanisms on. Before we finished we ended up painting the sides of our clocks. The difficult part was trying to glue our sides to our clocks.

Writing Challenge

Today I have started this challenge where we had to put apostrophes over words. Since I have already changed everything, here is an example of one that I have done so far. Do not - Don't. As you can see there is a big difference with Do not and don't. Don't have an apostrophe because it is letting you know it is a shorter word for do not. Also it tells you that there is a missing letter, and it is "O". The hardest part about this activity is that we had to try and find out what the shorter word was for the big number.

Careers Job DLO

Yesterday LS2 had started creating a DLO about what jobs we want to do in the future. I decided that I wanted to be a police officer. If I was going to be a policeman I know that it is going to take a lot of money to get there. All I need to do is get great national standards, be really good at subjects also study a lot. You can actually get a lot of money doing this job which is over $27.05 an hour and $54.230 a week.

Kate Sheppard Sketch Note DLO Defining words

In Reading we had to define words that are related to the Suffrage movement. We also needed to write what we know about the suffrage movement, and other questions. CJ, Eric, Oh Hsen, Shannon and I have all worked together to complete this sketchnote. We talked about what it was and decided what we wanted to put for our answers.

Kate Sheppard DLO

Today Eric, OhHsen, C.J, Shannon and I created a google slide DLO about Kate Sheppard. We placed our questions onto a slide and wrote the answers on another slide. We all had a conversation about our learning and read facts together to put onto our DLO. What was challenging about this activity was to find the right information to put it onto our own words.

Dance LS2 Rewindable learning

Today lS2 have started learning our dance for our production at the end of the term. We were rewinding our learning from yesterday by watching our video. Ms Kirkpatrick put the song onto the TV screen so we could practice our dance and get it at the right beat. At the end we all shared our dance. I really enjoyed seeing group B's group, because the actions they were doing were really fast and it would look difficult if I was in their group.

Idiom writing Challenge

Today Zane and I have created an Idiom writing challenge. We started by researching idiom images so we could put them onto the DLO. When I was searching through images I came across to one that said hit the road. I knew that it was the one I was going to use for my DLO.  Zane and I  had a discussion to see if we were going to use it or something else. I learnt quite a lot of things about idiom. The hardest part about this writing challenge was trying to find an image because there were heaps of interesting ones I wanted to use. And the easiest part was writing down what it meant because I hear these words in some movies that I watch on Netflix.

hyperbole writing challenge

Today I have created a writing challenge DLO about hyperbole. I had to create a paragraph about my unfortunate walk home. But I ended up doing a run back home. What was challenging is that I had to think of a sentence that has hyperbole into it. But now I have learnt new thing about what hyperbole is.

Winter learning journey, Blog

During the holidays there has been a really amazing winter learning journey program going on through out the cluster of manaiakalani. It was amazing to see other peoples blogging because I only got to comment on one them. We would like to give a really big thank you to Rachel Williams who was the person who told us about the winter learning journey. I was inspired and thought about it when the holidays had started. I also enjoyed exploring through the sites so I could blog then but I realised I was going to Australia I quickly did one after packing, but as soon as I came back I saw 4 or 6 comments from people which was  really awesome to see.

Tech Year 8

Today at tech the year eights and I have just started painting our design, some of us still needed time because our tech teacher Mrs Ferguson was busy trying to cut out our clock designs by using the laser cutter. Before we started we had to draw over with a pencil the design that we want to paint onto, but we had to take our time or we could mess it up and have to start all over again. The hardest part about my design was drawing New Zealand (aotearoa). And painting all over it was even difficult. I had a really great time painting the ocean and mixing the colours. But the best thing about this is helping each other out when they are stuck on something.

Suffragette movement DLO

In reading we have being learning about how women got equal rights. We watched a 14 minuet video about the Suffragette movement and we recorded our notes and learnt a lot of things about it. After watching the video we made a DLO and with our notes we had to write 25 words about the Suffragette movement. I have made this DLO with my reading group Eric, OhHsen,C.J and Shannon.
